A lecture given at the Slade Art+Tech Research Lab on the limitations of contemporary creative and computational practices. Drawing upon Robert Brandom's work on inferentialism in philosophy of language, and five years leading the Diploma in Creative Computing at UAL, I propose that that arts-tech education must move beyond discursive and representational modes of pratice, and towards designing opportunities that better bind theoretical claims to practical consequence, with venues who may refuse our commitments.
